PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aluminum-based composite material for brake discs with which the wear resistance of the brake discs is improved. SOLUTION: The aluminum-based composite material for the brake discs contains particles ofβ-SiC with a cubic crystal structure in amounts of 3 to 25 vol.%, and the average particle size of theβ-SiC particles is made to 3 to 30μm.
