PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for forming design faces on a metallic material by which many kinds of designing textures can be imparted, and further, design faces can easily be formed even on a thin metallic material. SOLUTION: The surface of a metallic material 1 is subjected to blast treatment to form rugged grained surface 1a. After the blast treatment, chemical treatment such as chemical polishing treatment of chemically polishing the surfaces and etching treatment is performed. The rugged shape of the grained surface 1a is leveled or coarsened by the chemical treatment. Thus, the design faces provided with many kinds of textures such as a bright tone, a semi-bright tone and a mat tone, and color tones can be formed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
