PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a starch-based adhesive having an adhesion performance nearly equal to or superior to that of a conventional starch-based adhesive containing a boron compound without using the boron compound. SOLUTION: The starch-based adhesive containing a thickener/thickener auxiliary contains an organic macromolecular coagulant (except the strong anionic one) as the thickener, and optionally a silicate as the thickener auxiliary.
