PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a water-based coating which causes neither whitening phenomena nor reduction in lubricating properties and contains a wetting agent and a lubricant. SOLUTION: The water-based coating composition comprises a reaction product (C) obtained by reacting a hydroxy group in a compound (A) containing the hydroxy group at the terminal of a dimethylpolysiloxane having 500-15,000 number-average molecular weight with an acid anhydride group in a copolymer (B) comprising styrene and maleic anhydride as main components.
