PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing with good productivity a secondary amine useful as an additive for a rubber or a plastic to prevent oxidative deterioration or ozone deterioration thereof by reacting an aromatic primary amine or an aromatic nitro compound at a high conversion rate. SOLUTION: A compound selected from among aromatic primary amines and aromatic nitro compounds is reacted with a compound selected from among ketones and aldehydes in the presence of hydrogen, a reducing catalyst, and water in a concentration of at least 15 wt%, thus producing a secondary amine.
