PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bicycle retaining device that can be brought into an elevator car to enable bicycles of all sorts to be easily installed in vertical positions, and requiring less space to install. SOLUTION: The bicycle retaining device includes a vertically extending support member, and at least one pair of roller devices provided in tandem on the support member and having a supporting interval with which they clamp part of a side of a bicycle's front wheel to retain it. The bicycle's front wheel is supported with the supporting interval and pushed up so that the bicycle can be held in a position where the front wheel is high. The roller device includes a support base supported against the support member, a plurality of rollers provided on the support base, and a belt wound on the rollers to form the supporting interval while making contact with the side of the front wheel. An elastic support device is provided which elastically supports the roller devices against the support device so that the supporting interval of the roller devices varies elastically.
