PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of finishing the surface of a coating film and a finishing agent for the surface of the coating film by which glazing is sufficiently carried out without causing an aurora mark in the use for a finishing process in the repairing of the coating film. SOLUTION: In the method of finishing the surface of the coating film which includes a process of applying the finishing agent on the surface of the coating film and a process of polishing the surface of the coating film coated with the finishing agent, the finishing agent is a water-based composition containing water, a petroleum-based solvent and particles made from plastic.
