The fastening system for the fitting of a container on a bicycle has a connecting component (28) on the bicycle side and a connecting component (10,14) for connecting to the container. The connecting component on the bicycle side has a connecting element and adaptor plate (40) detachably connected to it. The adaptor plate is connected to a fastening component which is suitable for the respective fastening to a part of the bicycle. The latter fastening component has a clamp for the fastening of the bicycle side connecting component to the handlebar.
