摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve responsivness to a change in driving forces in response to accelerator operation, in the case that a travel where power performance is paramount is required, in a hybrid vehicle equipped with en engine and an electric motor as power source during the travel of a vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: If a sport mode in which the shifting of speed change stage is done by manual operation is judged to be selected in a step SA2, the engine is started in a step SA3, and the engine is made to remain to be operating even if a mode to stop the engine including a motor travel mode is selected in a step SA4. Consequently, if a big accelerator operation is done and the mode is shifted from the motor travel mode, or the like to engine travel mode, it is not needed to start the engine over again. As a result, little time lag is developed until an engine torque is generated actually following accelerator operation, resulting in obtaining high responsiveness that is required for the sport mode with respect to the change in driving forces. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
