PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic head of high reproduction output by using a high sensitivity film thickness oriented current magnetoresistive effect element having proper electric resistance and a high variable ratio of the resistance. SOLUTION: A structure for arranging a current narrow-down layer 51 for narrowing down a current-flowing area to 1/2 to 1/100 in the close neighborhood of a free layer 13 by applying a current to a giant magnetoresistive effect laminated layer 101 in the direction of the thickness, and a manufacturing method therefor are provided. Further, a magnetic domain control film is formed on the magnetoresistive effect laminated film 101 and in the neighborhood thereof, to obtain a high-output magnetic head excellent in stability, and a magnetic recording and reproducing device of a high recording density.
