PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonionic surfactant composition obtained by adding an alkylene oxide to a branched aliphatic alcohol, which can retain high fundamental performances such as permeability and surface tension-lowering performances and sufficiently lower the critical micelle concentration (cmc). SOLUTION: The nonionic surfactant composition comprises a component A (component A1+component A2) and a component B (a component B1+component B2) in a compounding ratio satisfying the conditional equation below. The component A1 is R<SP>1</SP>O-(AO)<SB>a</SB>-(C<SB>2</SB>H<SB>4</SB>O)<SB>b</SB>-H (I). The component A2 is R<SP>1</SP>O-(C<SB>2</SB>H<SB>4</SB>O)<SB>c</SB>-[(C<SB>2</SB>H<SB>4</SB>O)<SB>d</SB>/(AO)<SB>e</SB>]-H (II). The component B1 is R<SP>2</SP>O-(AO)<SB>f</SB>-(C<SB>2</SB>H<SB>4</SB>O)<SB>g</SB>-H (III). The component B2 is R<SP>2</SP>O-(C<SB>2</SB>H<SB>4</SB>O)<SB>h</SB>-[(C<SB>2</SB>H<SB>4</SB>O)<SB>i</SB>/(AO)<SB>j</SB>]-H (IV). The conditional relationship (1) is 0.10≤the component B/(the component A + the component B)<0.50 (1). R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>and AO are each a specific group; a-j are each an average number of added moles; and [(C<SB>2</SB>H<SB>4</SB>O)<SB>q</SB>/(AO)<SB>r</SB>] is a random polymer chain having a molar ratio of q/r.
