PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide safe ice for storing perishable food prolonging a period of retaining a fresh-looking and good texture for eating as perishable food by delaying the starting of stiffening after death and the starting and progression of self-digestion, preventing putrefaction by exhibiting sterilizing power and not exerting influence on taste and smell of the perishable fish. SOLUTION: The ice for storing perishable food is formed by freezing a hinokitiol-containing aqueous solution containing 0.01 mass% or more of hinokitiol and/or sodium salt thereof. The ice is preferably the ice containing 0.04-0.08 mass% of Na salt of the hinokitiol or the ice containing 0.04 mass% or more of hinokitiol. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
