PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To further improve efficiency of the whole refrigerator using a plurality of compressors. SOLUTION: This refrigerator having a plurality of compressors 1, 2 driven by an electric motor is provided with the electric motor having a squirrel-cage type conductor 52 and a permanent magnet 51 polarized so as to function as a synchronous electric motor on iron core of a rotor 50 and a compressor driving circuit 100 performing drive at power supply frequency by commercial power supply 101 for the electric motor and drive at variable frequency by an inverter 102 selectively.
