The roller is rotatable on an axle pin 4 or on axle ends. The pin 4 is provided at one end with a screw thread and at the other end with a slot for fitting into lugs 2<SP>1</SP> provided on a U-shaped sliding carriage 2 fitted with reinforcing pieces 5. If the carriage is made by punching, the lugs 2<SP>1</SP> are punched at the outer ends of the carriage and bent at an angle. If the carriage is made by die-casting, the parts 2, 2<SP>1</SP> and 5 are preferably made in one piece. Alternatively, the roller may be fitted directly on to the cutter head. The roller is made from plastic, metal or hardwood, or has a covering of plastic. The ratio of the largest to the smallest diameter is preferably 5 : 3. |
