Device for motor vehicle system checks, whereby the vehicle has a fault memory and communications means with which it can connect to at least one customer service computer unit (KD1-KD3) to transfer fault details. The computer units are used to classify faults according to at least 3 categories, software, repairable and non-repairable. If a software fault exists a new software version is automatically transmitted to the vehicle, if a repairable fault then repair suggestions are transferred to the vehicles, while if the fault cannot be repaired a service is arranged.
