The water jet nozzle (1) with a central passage (3), especially for the cleaning of drain channels and pipes, has at least two side channels (7) extending parallel to the central passage and open in the direction of the nozzle orifice. The side channels are connected to the central passage over their whole length. The surface area of the cross sectional face of the water jet nozzle is smaller than the surface area of a circle (10) enveloping the cross sectional face. The nozzle may have at least three side channels so that the cross sectional face of the nozzle is in star configuration.
