<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electron beam generating device that comprises a cathode which is low in cost and has excellent heat resistance, and is capable of emitting the large amount of electrons under a high voltage without a heater. <P>SOLUTION: The electron beam generating device 10 impresses a high voltage between the cathode 11 and an anode 14, and comprises the cathode 11 which has an orientation carbon nanotube layer 13 bonded to the surface of a cathode body 12 and a light source 16 that irradiates light L to the surface of the orientation carbon nanotube layer 13 of the cathode 11. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
