<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To more accurately read a bar code even when the captured image of the bar code is unclear at the edge part of a bar. <P>SOLUTION: In the image of a bar code captured by an image detecting means, predetermined length ranges at the both sides of the boundary of contrast as a center are defined as a boundary error range whose contrast is not unclear. When the center of each module constituting one word code is moved from the initial position to the both sides, and in the state that the number of boundary modules entering the boundary error range fulfills predetermined conditions, a normalized contrast pattern is prepared so that the normalized contrast pattern can be defined as the object of reading. Thus, in the captured image of the bar code, even when the edge part of the bar is unclear, the bar code can be more accurately read. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
