<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalytic oxidation apparatus suitable for treating an organic matter-containing gas in which the concentration of the organic matter fluctuates greatly. <P>SOLUTION: This catalytic oxidation apparatus is provided with an inducing blower 2 for sucking the organic matter-containing gas from an organic matter-containing gas generating point together with the surrounding air, a catalytic oxidation unit 3 for oxidizing the organic matter in the organic matter-containing gas supplied from the blower 2, a temperature detecting means for detecting the temperature of the gas on the outlet side of a catalyst-packed bed 53 of the unit 3 and a control means of the unit 3 for controlling the unit 3 by adjusting the air content of the organic matter-containing gas to be supplied to the unit 3. The space velocity corresponding to the temperature detected by the temperature detecting means is calculated on the basis of the relation between the reaction temperature and the space velocity of the unit 3 at the predetermined oxidation rate and the air content is controlled according to the calculated space velocity. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
