<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method for the enzymological production of 2-deoxy-scyllo-inosamine. <P>SOLUTION: A polypeptide of L-glutamine:2-deoxy-scyllo-inosose amino group transferase is derived from Bacillus circulans and a gene encodes the polypeptide. 2-Deoxy-scyllo-inosamine useful in various fields is easily producible in large quantity from 2-deoxy-scyllo-inosose by using the enzyme.
