PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-emitting device with high luminous brightness, high luminous efficiency, and high durability. SOLUTION: This light-emitting device has at least one layer of an organic layer containing a luminous layer between a pair of electrodes, and at least one layer of the organic layers contains a compound represented by general formula (1). In the general formula (1), Y represents a pyridine ring or a pyrimidine ring, and R<SP>11</SP>, R<SP>12</SP>, and R<SP>13</SP>independently represent a substituent group not essentially containing a hydrogen atom.
