PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the data exchange speed when sector break occurs regarding a data storage device, and a data exchanging method therein. SOLUTION: At least one of a plurality of data recording surfaces of a plurality of recording media is set as a data exchange dedicated surface, and a means is disposed to write replaced data in the same position of the data exchange dedicated surface at the time of exchanging when a defective sector occurs on the data recording surface of the data storage device during data writing or reading.
