PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a column filling and a method for manufacturing the same, which is supperior in durability and is only influenced very slightly by a residual silanol group. SOLUTION: The column filling includes a silica gel, having the silanol group and a silicone polymer in which a chemical modification group and a trimethylsilyl group bonded to the silanol group and a silyl isocyanate compound crosslink each other and which partially covers the surface of the silica gel. In the column filling, the chemical modified group is preferably a 1-30C straight-chain hydrocarbon group, a branched hydrocarbon group, a cyclic hydrocarbon group, or a substituted hydrocarbon group, which is substituted by a cyano group, a hydroxyl group, a carboxyl group, an acid amido group, an imido group, a sulfonic group, an amino group, or a glyceroyl group. The chemical modified group is preferably a triacontyl group, an octadecyl group, an octyl group, a phenyl group, a cyano group, a methyl group, or an epoxy group. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
