PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems with image deterioration caused by increased vertical shading, with vertical image deviation caused by interpolation, and with increased circuit scale, when the sensitivity of a video camera or the like is increased by vertical pixel adding operation in a solid-state imaging element. SOLUTION: The solid-state imaging element 10 outputs a video signal vertically pixel added by a driver circuit 11 continually for each line. The output of the element is converted into a digital signal by an A/D conversion circuit 14, via a preamplifier 12 and an analog process circuit 13. The converted video signal is held in a memory circuit 15, the same video signal is output twice each from the memory to be subjected to gamma or knee correction by a gamma/knee circuit. A contour processing circuit 25 performs edge enhancement in a regular mode upon photographing, and performs vertical LPF processing in a high-sensitivity mode on photographing for vertical pixel addition.
