PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition which is used for modifying fibers, can develop excellent hygroscopicity and endothermy on the fibers used as the raw material of clothes and can give refrigerant and flexibility to the clothes. SOLUTION: This composition for modifying the fibers is characterized by comprising a polyhydric alcohol group-containing (meth)acrylate ester monomer represented by the chemical formula [A is the hydroxyl group-removed residue of a 3-6C polyhydric alcohol; (p)+(s)=3 to 6; (p) and (s) are each a positive number; (q) is 1 to 4; (r) is 1 to 2; R is H or methyl] and a water-soluble (meth)acrylate ester monomer.
