PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tool changer in a machine tool for easily performing installation work, and reducing cost by reducing the number of part items by simplifying a constitution. SOLUTION: A column 12 is installed in an upper part of a head 11. A spindle stock 13 is reciprocatably installed in the vertical direction in an upper part of the column 12. The tool changer 21 is installed on a side surface of the column 12. A tool changing arm 44 is installed between the tool changer 21 and a main spindle head 14, and the changing arm 44 is turnably installed in the tool changing height H1. A tool moving mechanism 24 is installed between a tool magazine 22 and the tool changing arm 44, and a tool holder 31 is moved between an indexing position P1 and a tool changing position P2 together with a tool pot 29. Tool pot 29 is attached-detached to the tool holder 31 in the tool changing position P2 by using lifting operating of the spindle stock 13, and a tool 15 is attached-detached to the main spindle head 14 in a main spindle position P3.
