<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To authenticate a regular user who is authorized to use a terminal, and to confirm that the authenticated user is using the terminal. <P>SOLUTION: A card-type terminal 100 using a transparent liquid crystal display 3 for a portion or the whole part of a sheet-shaped substrate is provided with a fingerprint read part 5 capable of reading fingerprint pattern information. When fingerprint information read by a fingerprint read part is compared with the fingerprint information of a regular user stored in the card-type terminal and those pieces of information match, an information receiving part 2 starts operating to receive information. Also, the information receiving part is controlled not to operate again after the lapse of a predetermined time, and is controlled to operate only when the finger whose fingerprint is authenticated is brought into contact with the fingerprint reading part.
