<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an interpolation method and its apparatus for move compensation. <P>SOLUTION: The interpolation method includes a stage (a), in which after a specified weight value is given to each of a plurality of half pixels that adjoin in the horizontal direction of a specified quarter pixel, the half pixels are added to acquire a horizontal sum, and a stage (b), in which after a specified weight value is given to each of a plurality of half pixels that adjoin in the perpendicular direction of the quarter pixel, the half pixels are added to acquire a perpendicular sum. In addition, the method also includes a stage (c) to calculate the quarter pixels of an integer based on the perpendicular and the horizontal sums.
