PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor-driven power steering device which restrains a driver's unintended vehicle turning. SOLUTION: An electric motor M is controlled corresponding to a steering torque T and a vehicle speed V applied to a steering wheel 1 to give a steering assist force to a steering mechanism 3. When steering is detected with the vehicle in a traveling state and a straight movement state without a braking state, the steering is determined to be steering out of the driver's intention. In this case, a target current value for steering restraint predetermined by a target current value setting part 16 for steering restraint is used, thereby preventing the vehicle out of the driver's intention from turning.
