PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk drive in which seek noise at the mode shifting operation is reducible, and also the mode shifting method of the disk drive. SOLUTION: In the case when a head seeks a prescribed position on a 2nd mode at the shift to the 2nd mode, in which at least a head amplifier circuit is in the non-operational state, from a 1st mode, in which all of a spindle motor, a voice coil motor and the head amplifier circuit are in the operational state, the amount of a current supplied to the voice coil motor is controlled. Thus, the noise generated in the seek at the mode shifting operation is reduced. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
