PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus capable of processing an image acquired from a read manuscript into an image which takes color sense characteristic of a viewer into consideration and outputting it. SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus comprises: a reading unit 1 which performs raster scanning of the manuscript and condenses reflected light on a light receiving element; an SBU2 which creates digital image data based on the light incident on the light receiving element; an IPP5 which implements image processing to a digital image signal; CDIC3 which manages interfaces of digital signals and buses collectively; and a VDC6 which manifests the digital image data and outputs an image signal corresponding to the manifested image. The apparatus also comprises an operation part 13 for a user to specify his or her color sense characteristic and a process controller 9 to decide the user's color sense characteristic based on the information inputted through the operation part 13. The IPP5 stores the result of decision of the process controller 9 as the user's color sense characteristic and changes processing of the image data according to the user's color sense characteristic.
