PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a washing machine in which a door packing can be easily replaced, assembling accuracy is high, and the door packing is hardly damaged. SOLUTION: In this horizontal drum type washing machine, a clothes inlet of a washing tub and a clothes inlet of an outer box are connected and a tub side end part of a cylindrical door packing tightly in contact with the door of the outer box to close the washing tub is made into a form having a U-shape cross section with a fold-back in the door direction. A fixing member is fit into a groove of the fold-back so as to surround the whole circumference of the door packing and the end part of the door packing is fit into a groove of a double rib formed on the circumference of the clothes inlet of the tub to fix the fixing member to the tub to tightly attach the door packing to the tub. The inner face of the door packing is processed for smoothness and wear resistance to prevent the door packing from wearing by friction with clothes. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
