PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image input device including a transparent cylinder of which diameter can be shortened, while enabling the cylinder to accommodate an optical system and an image sensor without shortening a focal length of the optical system. SOLUTION: The image input device 1 includes a transparent rotating roller 2 supported rotatably around a rotational axis thereof. The roller 2 includes a one-dimensional image sensor 4, a Selfoc lens array 6 and a film board 13 arranged therein. The image sensor 4 is mounted on a back-surface 13b of the board 13. The board 13 has a through hole 13c formed thereon, and a light receiving portion 11 of the image sensor 4 faces the through hole 13c. An incident surface 6a of the Selfoc lens 6 is directed to a finger 200 touching the outer peripheral surface 2a of the roller 2, and an outlet surface 6b is directed to the receiving portion 11c through the through hole 13c.
