Centrifugal separator (10) for separation of solid and/or liquid particles suspended in gas media, comprising a rotor (12) which is rotatably mounted in a surrounding stationary housing (20). The housing has, firstly, an outlet (32) for cleaned gas which, when passing through the rotor, has been freed of solid and/or liquid particles, secondly, an outlet (34) for the solid and/or liquid particles transferred to the lateral wall (28) of the housing. The outlet (34) for the solid and/or liquid particles is in the form of at least one but preferably a plurality of through-holes in the lateral wall of the housing. According to the invention, an annular baffle element (30), extending substantially inwardly from the lateral wall of the housing, is arranged downstream of the hole (34) at such a distance that during the operation a gas cushion, generated upstream of the baffle element, creates a ring (38) of the solid and/or liquid particles, level with the outlet hole (34).
