PURPOSE: A slimming type traction machine for an elevator is provided to reduce the size of the traction machine and simplify the structure of the traction machine. CONSTITUTION: A slimming type traction machine for an elevator comprises a rotator frame(110) having a rotator mounting part, in which rotators are installed with a fixed interval, a braking face, to which a brake shoe is contacted, at an outer surface, and a rotation shaft mounting hole at the center thereof; a rotation shaft(190) which is coupled to the rotator frame to rotate by the torque of the rotator frame and of which one end is fitted to the rotation shaft mounting hole; a bearing member(140) fitted to the outer surface of the rotation shaft; a stator frame(120) having a supporting part, a stator mounting part, and a shoe mounting hole; and a traction sheave(130) coupled to a side of the rotation shaft and rotated by the rotator frame; and an encoder(160) installed to an end of the rotation shaft.
