<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which appropriately reports abnormality, and also appropriately performs serviceman call. <P>SOLUTION: A copying machine 1 is provided with a main body 2 and an option 3, both of them are communicatively coupled through a communication line L. By connecting a power source to the copying machine 1, a signal is given from a main body control part 26 for overall controlling the main body 2 to an option control part 33 for overall controlling the option 3, then, an initial communication starts. In the case that the reply of a signal is not given from the option control part 33, the abnormality reporting is given so that the user can cope with that. In case the abnormality is not canceled, irrespective of the measures taken fixed times based on the abnormality reporting, the abnormality reporting is given so as to call the serviceman. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
