PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface detection device capable of surely detecting, based on a simple structure, for example, the coating defect of releasing agent in a releasing sheet at low cost. SOLUTION: This surface detection device comprises a rotating roller 1 positioned so as to abut on an inspected object 11 conveyed in a specified direction and a detection part 2 for detecting the rotational speed or torque of the rotating roller. Based on the output of the detection part, a variation in surface resistance of the inspected object and the positional relation thereof are detected. The inspected object is, for example, a releasing sheet coated with the releasing agent. Based on the detected results of the rotating speed or torque of the rotating roller, the coating defect of the releasing agent in the releasing sheet is detected. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
