PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ion current detection device capable of detecting ion current even when a battery grounded to a ground line is used as a heating battery in an ion current detection device using a glow plug. SOLUTION: In the ion current detection device 1, a heating switch 23 and a detection switch 43 are not turned on simultaneously, detection current output from the detection battery 41 does not flow the ground line 10 through the heating switch 23. A primary adverse current prevention diode 25 prevents detection current from flowing the ground line 10 through the heating battery 21. Detection voltage can be applied between the glow plug 11 (heating resistor 14) and an engine block 17 and ion current can be detected by preventing leak of detection current to an electric current pathway via the ground line 10.
