<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooling mechanism for surely and effectively cooling a light source unit. <P>SOLUTION: The cooling mechanism cools down the light source unit 1 for image projection equipped with a lump 11 for projecting an image and a reflector 13 extended from a back side to a front side of the lump 11 for reflecting light to the front side. A plurality of openings 17 for air circulation are provided on the front side of the reflector 13. A blower means (fan) 20 is further provided on the plurality of openings 17 so as to generate an air flow.
