PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing glass which certainly clarifies molten oxide-base multicomponent glass and produces homogeneous glassware. SOLUTION: In the method for producing glass, helium and neon are fed to a glass raw material and/or the molten glass to deaerate and clarify the molten glass, thereby giving glassware with specified helium and neon contents after cooling. In a melting furnace, helium and neon A are fed through an introducing pipe 21, expand minute bubbles and accelerate the deaeration of the molten glass G to clarify it. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
