<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reflection/transmission type liquid crystal display element with which a color picture with excellent quality is displayed both in a reflective display and in a transmissive display. <P>SOLUTION: Each of a plurality of pixel parts A is divided into a reflective display region A1 where light which is made incident from the observation surface side of the display and passed through color filters 8R, 8G, and 8B, and a liquid crystal layer 4 is reflected, and the reflected light is emitted to the observation surface side to be displayed, and a transmissive display region A2 where light which is made incident from the side opposite to the observation surface side and passed through the liquid crystal layer 4 and the color filters 8R, 8G, 8B is emitted to the observation surface side to be displayed. Light absorption factor of a part corresponding to the reflective display region A1 of the color filters 8R, 8G, 8B corresponding to each of a plurality of the pixel parts A is set to be lower than that of a part corresponding to the transmissive display region A2 of the color filters 8R, 8G, 8B. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
