PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a superposed data extractor which corrects a malfunction of detecting character data due to clock ran-in (CRI) pulses wrong detectable when signals different from closed caption signals are simultaneously superposed on television signals. SOLUTION: A CRI pulse detector 104 is provided for detecting a CRI pulse from binary data extracted from digital signals AD-converted from television (TV) signals, using a slice level taken as a mean value of a maximum and minimum values of the TV signals obtained in a specified range of the horizontal synchronizing signal. The detector 104 detects a change point of the binary data and detects the CRI pulse, based on the values of the binary data at specified timings (two points) from the change point.
