PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner provided with a suction tool for the vacuum cleaner with improved operability. SOLUTION: The vacuum cleaner comprises: a rotary brush 9 provided inside the suction tool for a floor; an electric motor 10 for rotating the rotary brush 9; a driving means 11 for driving the electric motor 10; a rotary brush load state detection means 12 for detecting a load acting on the rotary brush 9; an input elevation judging means 16 for raising input to the electric motor 10 when the load acting on the rotary brush 9 becomes a first prescribed value or higher; an input lowering judging means 15 for lowering the input to the electric motor when it becomes higher than a second prescribed value which is higher than the first prescribed value; and a stop judging means 17 for stopping the drive of the rotary brush when it becomes higher than a third prescribed value which is higher than the second prescribed value.
