The invention concerns an electrolytic polymer membrane fuel cell wherein the oxidizing agent is supplied to the cathode physically dissolved in a liquid. An enrichment unit external to the fuel cell serves to physically dissolve, at least partly, the oxidizing agent in an adapted liquid, in normal or low excess pressure conditions. Thus it is possible to reduce the compression power on the cathode side. In a particular embodiment, said liquid is not miscible with water such that the water produced on the cathode side can be simply extracted from the cathode region as a second phase, and then separated. The liquid flowing through the cathode is much more adapted than a gas for collecting the heat produced in the fuel cell, and for simply evacuating the liquid outside the fuel cell. Since said liquid does not react either with water or with the oxidizing agent, it can advantageously be circulated. |
