PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display the bit map fonts to be used in cellular phones, PDAs, etc., with a smaller amount of operations and higher quality. SOLUTION: The font processor acquires the data of the previously prepared bit map fonts and analyzes the pixel configuration of the font data by pattern matching. The processor forms sub-pixel fonts which are the data of sub-pixel units configurating the pixels of the font data according to pixel configuration. The sub-pixels refer to the elements to constitute the pixels and the one pixel is usually configured by the three sub-pixels; R (Red), G (green) and B (blue) as a set. The false increase of the resolution of the font data is made possible by analyzing pixel configuration and by forming the sub-pixel fonts which are the assembly of the data of the sub-pixel units. The expression of finer lines is thereby made possible and the jaggies arising in the diagonal line portions of the font data of the pixel units can be decreased. Also, the processing is performed by pattern matching and therefore the processing at the smaller amount of operations is made possible. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
