PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a foundation structure for a structure capable of suppressing a damage by liquefaction at a low cost with good workability. SOLUTION: A foundation 6 is formed of a ground improved body formed by mixing a ground improving material with the soil of the ground followed by compacting, and a cement-based material is used as the ground improving material. The foundation 6 formed by the ground improved body comprises a vertically raised cylindrical foundation body 7 and a plurality of counterforts 8 arranged on the inside surface 7a of the foundation body 7 at prescribed intervals. The foundation body 7 has an outer shape having substantially the same building area of a structure 5 in a plan view, and its depth reaches the lower layer of a liquefied layer 3 from the ground surface of a surface layer 4 to the extent of leaving an unimproved layer L<SB>1</SB>. Each counterfort 8 is provided in a rib shape so as to vertically protrude from the inside surface 7a of the foundation body 7 toward the hollow part 7b thereof, and has a rectangular plate shape.
