PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a winding-back straight ruler which winds back into a compact size with the restoring force of an elastic tape having a curved cross-section and has a ruler function on the curved surface. SOLUTION: The straight ruler, when extended, stands still and is stabilized holding a curved cross-section. The elastic tape, when applied with a force in a direction to flatten the bending of the ruler from the protruded surface to the recessed surface direction, is processed so as to have a restoring force to wind back in the longitudinal direction. A scale is provided on the surface of the elastic tape, the coated elastic tape, the tape surface adhered on the elastic tape, or the cover surface covering the elastic tape. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
