PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To set a driving voltage value of drive pulses to a more proper value. SOLUTION: The device for determining the driving voltage has a drive signal generating circuit 34 for generating two kinds of drive pulses for measurement of different driving voltages; an electronic scale 32 and a weight acquiring part 36 which can measure an amount of ink drops jetted from a recording head 1; and a main control part 37 which determines a proper driving voltage from a correlation between the driving voltage of the drive pulses for measurement and the jet amount of ink drops corresponding to the driving voltage, and can also control the drive signal generating circuit 34, the electronic scale 32 and the like. The main control part 37 controls the drive signal generating circuit 34 prior to the measurement of the jet amount of ink drops to supply a plurality of drive pulses to piezoelectric vibrators of the recording head 1.
