<p>Silarylene-siloxane copolymers, containing a plurality of units of the formula <FORM:0974527/C3/1> together with one or more units of the formulae <FORM:0974527/C3/2> are made by cohydrolysing a halo-silane of the formula <FORM:0974527/C3/3> with one or more halosilanes of the formula RSiX3, R2SiX2 or R3SiX, where each R is a monovalent hydrocarbon, halo-hydrocarbon or cyanoalkyl radical and X is a halogen atom. Examples are given. Similar copolymers are indicated in Specification 870,024 but these are obtained by intercondensing silphenylenediols with cyclic diorganosiloxanes.</p> |
