The cover (46) of the airbag unit (22, 23) positioned in front of the lower legs of the driver of the vehicle is fitted with a locking arrangement in order to avoid the unfolding of the airbag in an unwanted direction. Locking elements (80, 83, 84) fixed to the inner surface (58, 59) of the upper cover (46) are guided through openings (31) provided at the front cover (27). The elements (80, 83, 84) are bent during this process creating a safe connection counteracting any forces resulting from a slightly faulty assembly of the unit. |
